Yamazaki has always built great flatware, but this spoon takes the cake, the casserole, the salad, the stew, and anything else you can haul with it. It's hefty, it's big, and even at 11 inches long, the handle betrays its bowl size, which is 4.5" long by 2.8" wide. And yes, it WILL last forever. You know that program, "Life after People"? This spoon will be around 60,000 years after people! I bought a wonderful WMF oversized spoon, but the handle was so thin, it was difficult to handle. This spoon is for the big jobs. Get it, enjoy it, and don't let anyone touch it!

I've been looking for a long time for a nice, flat serving spoon and was delighted to find this gem! I've used smaller, deep serving spoons in the past but when you're serving casseroles and other dishes that require a "heaping" serving, this spoon can't be beat! The spoon is nice and wide, and more importantly, nice and flat. If anything, it resembles and ice cream paddle but is "dressier" and more appropriate for the dinner table. A+++++++ on this one.
